At first I was impressed by the array of assassin dagger skills, but when I looked into it, I realized even with a 16 they'd still be pretty crappy.. And in Dark Arts, the throw three daggers move? Thats a joke, 45 earth damage.. Usually bellow the max damage. I'm also a little pissed that their isn't a sneak move for assassins where they become invicible for a short period of time. (THIS WOULD HELP GREAT IN RP OR PVP, THINK SCOUUUUUTS)

I didn't get peoples issues with not being given faction to get a few skills to start with.
Now, don't get me wrong, the prebuilts were pretty far from spectacular, but, they were adequate to get up some practice, and faction, at least in the random arena.
For example. My favourite of the prebuilts, the E/A, whatever its name was ... elite assassin maintained teleport spell, and a few close burny spells.
As it was, it wasn't too great .. but it worked alright in Random, it was my first PvP *ever*, and i racked up 11 in a row. It worked simply enough .. port in, burn everything, port out .. rinse and repeat. Usually a burst in killed at least 1 guy, more if they were near eachother.
It wasn't fast faction, but it worked.
The barrage ranger .. was a reasonable damage dealer ... and was especially effective at all the ritualists who didn't move ... a few barrages did a lot of damage to them .. and killed there nearby spirits.
The trap ranger premade was also fairly reasonable .. quite reasonable at killing.
Gaining the first faction you would need for skills really wasn't too hard for a novice PvP'er. It wasn't huge faction, but it came, and would have been enough to purchase the first few skills you would need to slowly improve the builds.
One battle i went into in random ... 1 guy on our team saw me as a prebuilt, and left us. it was 3 on 4 .... and we won. It was close, 7 kills to 6, but the E/A worked ... and we went on to win 7 in a row once another guy joined us next round.

THAT'S WHY THERE WERE SO MANY BARRAGE RANGERS?!?!
Dude, I was wondering what was up with all the barragers! LOL
That's hilarious. What's funny is that spiteful on a barrage ranger is AWESOME. They seem to take damage for EACH enemy target they hit with the skill.

They would do the same to experienced assassins and warriors. Play with a good amount of castershutdown for those pesky's SS players. I'm brilliant in my solutions to your displeasure.

First of all, I don't like your grammar. Not that this has any relation, but it gets me annoyed
How garbage is the Ritualist and the Assassin? I mean, if you have half a brain, you would have been able to actually make a build that uses it or just NOT USE THOSE DAMN CLASSES?

This weekend was GREAT!
1 - got to abuse new A/Ws with SS/Empathy
2 - took the opportunity to try a Fire Ele in Random since there would be so many new players on - had fun Meteor Showering Rit spirits both offensively and defensively
3 - tried out an A/W using the first 3 prebuilt dagger skills, an interrupt, ViM, Bonetti's, and Caltrops - had fun...more fun than success, but fun nonetheless
Thanks Anet!

This is almost sad it's so funny. I got easily 50k+ faction in Randoms this weekend.
It was pretty cool to see the difference from Friday night to Sunday. Friday night I took a nec/mes with arcane echo and life transfer and made it to teams every single time I played. A/W, A/W, A/W, A/W on a LOT of teams. I could have taken the whole team alone.
Sunday was a different story. People started thinking about their builds more and the assassins were no longer a joke.
I started out thinking that assassins were way underpowered and ritualists over, at least for defense, but now I think they'll both fit into the mix very well, neither over or underpowered.

Assuming he had alot of flawless winstreaks and the matches were relativly short (not possible with some ritualist builds), he could have been around 4-5k per hour played. Considering the number of assasin pre-made templates that were running around, i do not find that too shocking. That pre-made has got to be worse than the paladin premade for pvp. So if he built something that countered melee heavily and was paired with a good monk, rit, or both, then it is quite possible for something like that. I believe i bumped into a team once or twice that consisted of 2 w/e axe warrior, a Anti melee mesmer, and a good boon/prot monk that would basically steam roll just about anything new in the team arenas.

I was probably one of those asshole SS necros. Dead Cheerleader or Genuine Article ring a bell?
Get used to it kid.
All those assassin newbies were free faction for me. LOVED IT. And don't think that it was just the newbies that I raped. Players with accounts who made A/W and W/A and whatever other assassin combos fell to me. SS + Empathy = lol
I don't feel sorry for it. Maybe the next time people get hexed they'll take a second and read what the hell that hex on them is doing. But they won't, and I'll keep winning. Maybe you should've gone in as a hex removal mesmer/monk? Maybe you should've gone in as an interupt ranger (the few I did run into never focused on me for long... if they had, I would've been RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed... STICK WITH IT!).
Maybe, JUST MAYBE, you should've countered all of us asshole SS necros. But you didn't. You cried because you couldn't play your w/mo.
P.S. I had plenty of teams with monks in them in RA. And I earned about 17k faction from this weekend. In fact, with one team with Medic Sakura (our monk at the time), we went 26 rounds (10 in RA, then we got automatically moved to TA for the next 16).
P.P.S. Or make your own SS necro and stop complaining about us uber1337 h4x0rs.

I decided to take a stab at this. If I'm wrong...send my Nobel Prize elsewhere.
Assumptions:
55% standard wins (+105 faction)
40% Flawless OR consecutive bonus (+130 faction)
5% Flawless AND consecutive bonus (+155 faction)
Time/win (rounded to nearest 15 minutes)
3 minutes = 21.25 Hours
2.5 minutes = 17.75 hours
2 minutes = 14.25 hours
In other words, if each win takes 2 minutes (add or subtract the wait time as you wish) and is divided amongst the percentages laid out above, one would need to win every game for 14+ hours...

hmm dunno how scientific this is but on the friday i played off and on for about 14 hrs - from 8am to 11, then from about 5pm - 4am and i got 13k faction from that, just under 1k an hour and that wasnt even with good winning streaks - the best i think was 8 on the trot... after that i kinda stopped, but if he had plenty of wins on the trot over the 3 days i could easily see ppl gettin more than 50k faction from it

trust me when i say that matches weren't lasting 15 minutes.
Friday night my first time into arena's I won 32 straight. It took about 3 hours, maybe a bit more but not much. 9 out of 10 were flawless, even after we went to team arenas.
Friday was easily over half my faction, but I played 14 hours this weekend at least.

Asdar knows what he's doing in PvP. I don't find 50k over 14 hours in RA shocking at all, from playing with him and knowing how he rolls.
As for me, though, I think I got 3k faction from about 5 hours of random arena play. Not bad... but not Asdar.

Every other damn game I had one of those A/W prebuilds drag out the game for an extra 5-10 minutes running.
"Um, don't you want to explore the new classes, earn some faction, instead of running around for 10 minutes?"
"I PLAY WOW,NOOB STFU ABOUT UR STUPAD GAME!11!"
Btw, anyone else run into any griefers from WoW on a guest key? I hit quite a few.

Today I visited TA since a long time with a guildgroup. We won many of our matches flawless and around 1 min mark. I had no idea the competition of run builds in TA was this bad now. We just plug 'n played 4 characters, went in and wrecked havoc on every team we met. Till iQ turned our lights off, that is.
I'd say based on this experience, that it is probably faster then 14 hours.

Yeah, I got a little tired of them, but overall, I had a great time with the Factions Preview...and I don't even play a lot of PvP. I loved the assassin and look forward to some more weekends like this one until the final game is released.
